Robert Bernardo
Robert Bernardo is an American politician and a member of the San Mateo County Harbor Commission. He was elected on November 2, 2010 with 79,008 votes〔("San Mateo County Harbor District Election Information November 2, 2010: Results as of Jan 6 3:01pm, 100.0% of Precincts Reporting" ), (SmartVoter.org ), January 6, 2011.〕 from the 20 cities and 18 unincorporated towns that comprise San Mateo County, California. He was reelected to another four-year term in 2014.
== Biography and career ==
Robert Bernardo was born in the Philippines to Rodolfo and Bituin Bernardo in 1968. Bernardo, the oldest son of a businessman and medical doctor, emigrated to the United States when he was 2 years old, and spent his childhood in the cities of Daly City, Pacifica and South San Francisco. Bernardo attended Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, studied at the University of California, Davis and in 1991 received his B.A. degree in English.〔(Commissioner biographies: Robert Bernardo, Treasurer ), (San Mateo County Harbor District )〕
Upon graduation, Bernardo began a career in journalism. He later worked at San Francisco non-profit organizations before working at the San Francisco District Attorney's Office as a criminal investigator. Currently, Bernardo works full-time as a communications manager at the Port of Oakland’s press office.〔
